Ben Bartlett, Non-Executive Trustee

Ben has been a Headteacher since 2013 and has experience of being a member of Leadership Teams in Outstanding Secondary Schools since 2003. Having been the Headteacher of Hinchley Wood Secondary School and Sixth Form since 2013, Ben has overseen improvement in outcomes for students both in terms of attainment and the progress made by learners of all abilities, interests and backgrounds. Ben recently become the Executive Headteacher of the Hinchley Wood Learning Partnership (a cross-phase Multi Academy Trust of 2,000 learners). He is greatly enjoying the new Partnership and the challenge of working with children and young people across the full age range. Ben is also the Chair of Surrey Secondary Phase Council (representing the views of the 57 Surrey Secondary Schools) and working closely with Local Authority Officers to deliver the best possible outcomes for learners. Ben has recently been made a Director of the Schools Alliance for Excellence (an alliance made up of schools and other partners) to deliver a high quality, cohesive, coordinated school-led improvement system and bring coherence to the education system so that all schools and children across Surrey have access to the support they need in order to achieve to the best of their ability. As Vice Chair of Trustees and Chair of the Education Committee, Ben brings secondary experience, knowledge and understanding to the STEP Board.
